Meet Our Pet of the Month

Pet's Name: Cloudy Breed: Your Classic Long Grove Hybrid Gender: Male Age: 1 year old How did you acquire Cloudy? Cats and Skycrest Aninal Clinic had always been a part of our lives until we added triplet boys to our existing family of four almost four years ago. Our beloved Blanca passed away that year and we decided to hold off on another cat, knowing we could not properly care for it, having four little ones in diapers and a four year old daughter. But when Dr. Kristin Wojcik called us last year to say there was a litter of darling kittens up for adoption, we knew the time had come to once again welcome a pet into our home. We needed a kitten who could handle five children smothering it with attention and the wonderful staff at Skycrest, especially Jackie, found us the perfect fit. Cloudy waltzed right into our home as if to say "No problem, I can handle this!" and the kids have adored him ever since. How did Cloudy get his name? Colette and Ian said he looks like he is covered in fluffy clouds. Does Cloudy have any nicknames? He has a few but the one that suits him best is "Sir Purr" as his motor gets so loud he is politely asked to sleep on the couch so as not to keep the kids up at night. What makes Cloudy unique? Cloudy is not your typical cat as he loves to travel. Cloudy accompanied us and the kids on an airplane to Florida and acted as if he deserved this vacation. He nicely sat in his carrier at our son's feet and never peeped. He also had a ball sitting on Ian's lap in the car, quite interested in the cars whizzing by. He loves to chase water, too. While many cats despise water, Cloudy thinks it's the perfect toy. The kids spray the hose in the air and Cloudy jumps three feet up to bat the stream . He even sat with us in the backyard watching fireworks! Thank you, Skycrest, for bringing such joy into our lives! Hi. Im Brayden. Not the dog Brayden Just Brayden. Oh its so confusing, but heres the low-down and you decide What am I? I live in Long Grove with my Mom and Dad (people), 3 little brothers, George, Chewy and Henry (definitely dogs), and 2 big brothers, Derek and Blake (mostly people). And then theres me caught in the middle and undecided. You see I was found at a young age, abandoned (sob), sickly (sob-sob) and orphaned (oh the shame). These really nice people, Cyndy (my mom to be) and the handsome, wonderful and intelligent, Darryl (paid political advertisement) found me, took me home and adopted me. I have my own bed well we all kinda share one but I have my very own sleep number (75) on my side ooh LaLa, yowza! I eat at the dinner table, erwell actually underneath, but I think in another year or so, Ill have my own chair. I drive everywhere with Dad in the car- Im a regular barking make that talking GPS system. Now I know that Im a good looking guy checkout the pix and I have Diane, at Skycrest Animal Clinic, to see to it that I dont look anything less than stud-like. So why spend the extra money going with Mom to Mario Tricoci (Financially prudent of me)? Playtime at home is great too! I love chewing. First it was dirty underwear (Yuck!), then gradually to pillow and comforters, and now currently Im into my Renaissance Period the fringe on oriental rugs. Whoa Baby- No rubber bones for this dude! After a few hours Im ready for my chores watering and fertilizing the front lawn. Dad appreciates the help! Yeah its a great life, but you know, I guess it really doesnt matter what I am or where Im from. Im just me and Im loved every single day. What more can a guy, er Dog, ask for? Gotta run now. Maybe more updates later. Now lets see how do I get onto that online Doggie Dating Site? We adopted Watson after seeing his beautiful picture on the Skycrest Animal Clinic bulletin board. A breeder was looking to find a home for one of their four year old Maine Coon cats. Originally bred for show, Watson was too shy to be a good competitor in the ring. It took him a little time, but after getting used to living with us for several weeks and realizing we absolutely adored him he quickly became a very content and happy boy! About a year ago we noticed that Watson had developed a slight limp and as it got worse, we became increasingly concerned and wondered what we could do for him. While this was all developing it just so happened we were attending a national veterinary conference for our business and we ran across a company that manufactures cutting edge laser treatment equipment for pets. When we inquired where we could get such advanced treatment done for Watson, to our joy the company told us that Skycrest had one of their laser units. After just a few treatments we noticed Watson had dramatically increased mobility! Since he is healthy in every other way, we are ecstatic that he responded so well to the laser treatments on his elbow. Many thanks to Skycrest Animal Clinic and their fantastic care! The White family adopted Babs from Orphans of the Storm in Riverwoods, Illinois four years ago. Her previous owner couldn't care for her any longer, so the Whites made their home hers. "It was one of the best decisions our family has ever made.", says Long Grove resident Dave White. Babs is 13 years old now and is a loving, loyal, protective companion. She follows 5th and 4th grade girls, Maggie and Parker White, around waiting for an opportunity to play and is a favorite among their friends. "Babs is so funny!" says Maggie. "When we goof around, if we get too rough, Babs tries to get us to stop like she is our mom. She doesn't want us to get hurt!" Parker White adds, "She is so sweet. She always walks with us to the bus and is waiting for us when we come home from school. I know she misses us when we are not home." Besides being with her family, Babs enjoys playing football in the yard with friends, going on long walks to the pond to chase geese, and greeting new people with unbridled enthusiasm. If you ever see her, give her a pat on the head or a scratch behind the ear. You will get to see her irresistible smile and fall in love instantly!
