Meet Our Veterinarians

Kristin Wojcik, DVM Dr. Wojcik is a 1995 graduate of Ross University and the University of Minnesota.  She has been with Skycrest since 1999 and became the owner of the clinic in 2001.  Dr. Wojcik fulfilled her childhood dream when she became a veterinarian.  Her passion for her profession is evident by the way she nurtures her sweet patients as well as their families.  You might run into Dr. Wojcik as she hikes the trails near Long Grove with her mother and friends.  Dr. Wojcik and her husband, Don, share their home with their 2 sons, Owen and Miles, their daughter Kate, their dogs "Travis", and "Hurley", and a cat named “Perry”.
Fred Rader, DVM Dr. Rader is affectionately known by clients and staff as "Doc".  Everyone looks to Doc for his guidance and expertise based on his many years of experience.  Doc graduated from Ohio State Veterinary School in 1962.  He practiced in Lafayette, Indiana from 1962 until 1967 working with some small animals but concentrating on farm animals.  Doc moved to Long Grove in October of 1967 and founded Skycrest Animal Clinic.  For the first five years, while building the practice, he also worked as a relief Veterinarian in the Chicago area. Doc raised shelties and golden retrievers while his four children were growing up. He has since become well known far and wide for his expertise with Dobermans.  After practicing for 50 years, Dr. Rader enjoys spending most of the year in Florida with his wife Nancy and their dog Indy.
Meet Indy
Stephanie Locke, DVM Following in her father's footsteps, who is also a veterinarian, Dr. Locke graduated with honors from the University of Illinois.  She currently lives in Lincolnshire with her husband Mike, their sons Evan and Brennan and they all share their home with three dogs, a lab, a German shepherd and a golden retriever.  Her favorite pastimes include walking all the dogs and spending quality time with her family and friends. Dr. Locke enjoys being a veterinarian for many reasons and particularly enjoys being part of the human-animal bond; a bond to her that is unique and irreplaceable.
Susan I. Wilner, DVM Dr. Wilner graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. Before joining the Skycrest team in 2005, she worked at another animal clinic in the Chicagoland area for over 15 years.  Her family is truly ILLINI orange and blue! Her son, Mike, competed for the Illini gymnastics team and graduated with his degree in Computer Engineering (like his dad). Her daughter, Monica, dances for the 3 Spot Dance Troupe and is double majoring in Graphic Design and Photography. Dr. Wilner is actively involved with the Stevenson High School Career Center as well as local schools where she volunteers her time and enjoys mentoring students who are interested in veterinary medicine.  She lives in Buffalo Grove with her husband Corey, Golden Retriever Ti, and Ti’s color coordinated kitty and best bud Leo! Dr. Wilner and her husband are avid cyclists and enjoy spending their free time riding their tandem on the quiet roads of Long Grove or walking with their dog Ti!
Krista Shears, DVM Dr. Krista Shears graduated with honors from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. After a year practicing in sunny Las Vegas, Dr. Shears came back to her roots and joined Skycrest Animal Clinic in 2005.
